The Special Education Program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (CIED) developed an online Master of Education program and an Additional Licensure Plan that leads to licensure and/or M.Ed. in Special Education. In addition, it can include courses from the on campus program as part of the program of study; thereby offering a unique opportunity to students to attend on campus courses and online courses in the pursuit of their program objective.
The program is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and has received national recognition from the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), the organization that accredits teacher education programs in Special Education. The program prepares the teacher as an Instructional Specialist in Special Education for grades 4-12. The program is offered by as a graduate program in the College of Education and Health Professions and is administered by the School of Continuing Education & Academic Outreach.
