
Graduate Faculty members who have the doctorate and are in Group II graduate faculty status may serve as chairperson of advisory committees for students pursuing the Educational Specialist (Ed.S.).
The committee's responsibilities shall include: the determination of deficiencies; the acceptability of previous graduate work; the approval of the candidate's program of study; the approval of the original project or research paper; and the conduct of a final examination.
A Specialist Advisory Committee form (BCSS-41) should be signed by committee members prior to the completion of nine (9) semester hours of coursework and submitted to the office of the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. The Associate Dean will submit the recommended committee names to the Graduate Studies Committee for their approval. Upon approval by the Graduate Studies Committee, this form will be transmitted to the Graduate School.
Changes to the Advisory Committee
Students may initiate a change in committee by submitting a Change in Specialist Advisory Committee (BCSS-42) to the office of the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
The student must complete EDFD 5013 Research Methods in Education and EDFD 5393 Statistics in Education and Health Professions and must fulfill the requirements of the Master of Education Core (or equivalent). University of Arkansas M.Ed. and M.A.T. graduates will have met M.Ed. core requirements.
Prior to completion of nine (9) semester hours, the student, in cooperation with the major advisor and the Advisory Committee, should develop a specific Program of Study (BCSS-35). One copy of BCSS-35 should be retained by the student, one by the advisor, and one filed in the office of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

Time Limit
The last 30 hours of the program must be completed within a period of six years from the date of the Declaration of Intent.
The COEHP requires a 3.25 GPA for the Ed.S. Degree program on all work presented as part of their degree programs.
